Chronogolf, 2014 to 2018
From 5 to 45+ people, then the acquisition by Lightspeed
The product and the team
In 2014, Chronogolf was a startup of 5 people building software for the golf industry. I was its first developer.
I built the product's backend and grew the development team as the company grew. The company went from 5 to 45+ people, including 10 developers, and was then acquired by Lightspeed.
The scale
The backend I designed went from zero to hundreds of thousands of daily users.
The stack
Ruby on Rails, with PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis and Sidekiq.
The outcome
A company that grew from 5 to 45+ people, including 10 developers, then was acquired by Lightspeed.
Olivier joined Chronogolf on a full-time basis in 2014 when we were a small startup of 5 employees and played a crucial role in allowing us to scale to a team of 45+ individuals including 10 software engineers. Over a tenure of 4+ years with Chronogolf, Olivier demonstrated an incredible capacity to adapt with the growth of the company. Olivier is a natural leader and creative thinker who has the best interest of the business in mind when leading any project or mandate he is taking on. Beyond his strong technical capabilities as a backend engineer, he is also an altruistic colleague who leads by example. It was a privilege to work with him over the years.
Jean-David Saint-Martin
President at Lightspeed HQ
It was a great pleasure working with Olivier during our time together at Chronogolf. His out-of-the-box thinking and openness to involve everyone in his decision process was a testament to his character. He will truly be missed.
