Scribee, 2025 to 2026
An e-invoicing platform registered by the French tax authority, built from zero
The context
From September 1, 2026, every French company must be able to receive e-invoices through an approved platform: an operator registered by the French tax authority, the DGFiP.
Scribee set out to become one of those platforms. Thomas Andrieu, CTPO of iDocus and Scribee, whom I had worked with at Neatops and then at iDocus, asked me to build it.
My role
Working full-time from 2025 to 2026, I built Scribee's platform from zero in Ruby on Rails, with Hotwire and a custom ViewComponent component library. I also built its iOS and Android apps in Flutter, which I designed too.
An agentic method
I designed the team's agentic workflow. Skills encode the business and regulatory rules, such as the Factur-X, UBL and CII invoice formats. Workflows orchestrate the coding agents, and quality gates check every change.
A small team shipped features and fixes with confidence.
Mistral AI, a European provider
For OCR and the processing of uploaded documents, I integrated Mistral AI. Invoices carry the data of companies and their partners: Scribee required a European provider, and Mistral AI, a French company, met that requirement.
The outcome
Scribee has been registered by the French tax authority (DGFiP) as a plateforme agréée (an approved platform) since December 22, 2025.
